H – HEALTH & HAPPINESS!

Today I want to share about two very important aspects of life that is Health and Happiness.  Most of the time, we think of health only when we are unwell, then we visit the doctor and address our health issues.  World Health Organization’s defines “Health not as the absence of sickness but a Total well being of the person”.  Of course the definition is still a wholesome one, my objective is just to focus on these two words health and happiness.

If we are constantly falling sick, and suffer from aches and pains – it’s a serious warning and it’s important to explore the causes, find reasons, and then address them taking a doctors or a counselors help.  I was also a victim of aches and pains, and never understood for a long time the reasons for being un healthy.

It is a long journey, and  I had to look within, and take an inventory of my life, as to what I am doing with my life, how am I spending my time, what I am eating, what I am thinking, how are my relationships with others, and how do I treat myself etc.

Unless, we take a little effort in understanding ourselves and our lives, the diagnosis is not going to be easy. It took a long time for me to find out that the healing power was within me, all I needed to do was to take responsibility for all the aspects of my life and empower myself to healthy and happy.

The challenge was to love myself enough, to reinvent myself, and take the right decisions to ensure that I am healthy and happy.  Which means to permit myself to take time to exercise, meditate, relax, take nutritious food, affirm myself, and do some meaningful work.

As a wife, mother, daughter in law and working women this was really a challenge for me. I have seen my mother taking care of everyone’s need, and so now it was my turn to continue to do what I had observed in the early days of my life; take care of everyone’s needs around me, to such an extent that I did not find time for myself.

The pressure I laid on myself to be  perfect in everything I did added to my misery, and in the process I ended up being unhappy, and the reason for my unhappiness was the choices I made in my own life.   When I took a journey inward, in finding out the reasons.

I realized with the help of my friend that I had distributed all my power to those whom I love, and was blaming them for treating me badly.

In stead of being unhappy and crying about my life, I chose to make some very hard decisions. It was a turning point in my life, and I have never again looked back, but continued to love myself, affirm and appreciate myself in everything I did, that does not mean that I am perfect; it only means that I have learnt to look beyond imperfections.

My dear reader, whatever be your situation in your life, YOU have the POWER to change! Wishing you Health & Happiness today and always !!

I think most of the physical ailments have origins in our mind .. the way we think and how much stress we take !
