This April for the A-Z 2020 challenge I have
taken short stories from books of Fr Anthony De Mello – “the song of
the bird” and the “prayer of the frog”. I would like to share these stories
and hopefully believe that these stories will inspire you too.
Ramakrishna used to
say:
God laughs on two
occasions. He laughs when he hears a physician say to a mother, “Don’t be
afraid, I shall cure the boy.” God says to himself, “I am planning to take the
life of the child and this man thinks he can save it.!”
He also laughs when
he sees two brothers divide their land by means of a boundary line saying,
“This side belongs to me and the other side to you,” He says to Himself, “The
universe belongs to me and they claim to own portions of it!”
Sometimes we think that we are the owners of this universe and everything belongs to us and we can do what we want. so we build buildings, clear the forests and rob the animals and birds of their shelter, construct dams and displace the tribes, pollute water and air and destroy the nature. Not only harm nature but we have also harmed one another in so many different ways.
The whole world is lock down and it has taken a virus to slow us down, reflect and help us realize that we are not the sole owners of this earth, there are other species too who share our world. Now we are forced to learn the hard way some lessons which we refused to learn.
This is the time to introspect and look at what matters most and value the essentials of life. Let us do our bit however small to bring small changes in us and among ourselves, also reach out to those who are suffering due to the lock down.

post; appreciate your time; would love to hear your thoughts….
Be Blessed & Be Happy !
Lovely post thanks Genevive - we attach too much to our 'possessions' and hopefully we'll come to realise that we are not the only ones inhabiting this earth and be respectful of that and loosen our grip on what we imagine to be 'ours' and no-one elses.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan, glad you found this post lovely:) agree that we attach too much to our possessions.... its time that we loosen our grip as you rightly put it and hope for a peaceful co existence..
ReplyDeleteTrue that! If we think that we own this Universe, we are highly mistaken. Yes, a small virus has made us realize our mistakes. But will we learn? I have my doubts!
ReplyDeleteAgree shilpa it is said that experiences get repeated in life till we learn our lessons in life.. so let's hope things will change after the lock down, may not be major change but at least some small steps that will lead us in changing our perspectives.
