Q - Quaker’s vacant Land

This April for the #A-Z 2020 challenge I have taken short stories from books of Fr Anthony De Mello – “prayer of the frog” vol. II.  I would like to share these stories and hopefully believe that these stories will inspire you too.   

A Quaker had this sign put up on a vacant piece of land next to his home:

THIS LAND WILL BE GIVEN TO ANYONE WHO IS TRULY SATISFIED.

A wealthy farmer who was riding by stopped to read the sign and said to himself, “Since our friend the Quaker is so ready to part with this plot I might as well claim it before someone else does. I am a rich man and have all I need, so I certainly qualify.”

With that he went up to the door and explained what he was there for. “And is thee truly satisfied”? the Quaker asked.

“I am, indeed, for I have everything I need.”

“Friend, said the Quaker, “If thee is satisfied, “what does thee want the Land for.”?

“A poor person isn’t he who has little; but he who needs a lot”

It is heartening to note that there are so many good people who are coming forward to donate in cash, and further there are others  providing meals to the daily wage earners, volunteers and helplines for counseling for those who have psychological issues. Different people with their own capacity are coming forward responding to fight the COVID 19.
