M – The Medal

This April for the #A-Z 2020 challenge I have taken short stories from books of Fr Anthony De Mello – “the song of the bird” and the “prayer of the frog” .  I would like to share these stories and hopefully believe that these stories will inspire you too.
“Rational Beliefs brings us closer to getting good results in the real world” Albert Ellis

A mother could not get her son to come home before sunset. So, she told him that the road to their house was haunted by ghosts who came out after dusk.

By the time the boy grew up he was so afraid of ghosts that he refused to run errands at night. So she gave him a medal and taught him that it would protect him.

Superstitions  gives him faith in the medal,
Rational Belief gets him to see that ghosts do not exist.

Belief system are formed from childhood and over a period of time impacts the thought processes of the child, continues to create fears even in adulthood. When we learn to rationalize and challenge irrational beliefs we can overcome fears.

With COVID 19 there has been plenty of fake stories doing rounds on whats app and other social networking sites, creating fears and anxiety among simple people. Let us act in a  responsible manner in verifying the news and check whether it is  from the authentic source. Let's continue to protect ourselves and other #Stay Home #Stay Safe

Thanks for reading this post, I would appreciate to hear your thoughts.

Be Blessed & Be Happy !

  1. The spread of fake and alarming news is like a virus itself. So essential to check the source and be affirmed in real news and real beliefs. Thanks Genevive - hope you and family are keeping safe and well xx

  2. Hi Susan, thanks for connecting with me, its always a pleasure and true - fake news does more harm as you rightly put it, like a virus itself raising fears and anxiety among people. We are safe and healthy by God's grace, hoping the same from you. Love :)
