C - Contented Fisherman

This April for the #A-Z 2020 Challenge, I have taken short stories from books of Fr Anthony De Mello – “the song of the bird” and the “prayer of the frog” .  I enjoyed  reading his book and I would like to share these stories and hopefully believe that these stories will inspire you too.

The industrialist was horrified to find the fisherman lying beside his boat, smokng a pipe.
Industrialist:  “Why aren’t you out for fishing?”
Fisherman:     “Because I have caught enough fish for the day”
Industrialist:  “Why don’t you catch some more?”
Fisherman:     “What would do I do with it”?
Industrialist: “Earn more money, Then you could have a Motor fixed to your boat and go into deeper waters and catch more fish. That would bring you money to buy nylon nets, so more fish, more money. Soon you would have enough to buy two boats… even a fleet of boats.. Then you could be rich like me”
Fisherman: “What would I do then”?
“Industrialist:  Then you could really enjoy life”.

Fisherman: “What do you think I am doing now?”

Thank you for reading this post:) would love to hear from you, until then,

Be Blessed & Be Happy !

  1. This is such an interesting and thought provoking story. There is this message which is doing the rounds on WhatsApp that the Corona times have taught us that it is not the cost of living that is high, it is the standard of living.
