#WATWB Prashant Gade

“Passion is Energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you” Oprah Winfrey

I got a video forward from one of my friends on whatsapp which spoke about a youngster by name Prashant Gade who is making a huge difference in the lives of those who have lost their arms.  He recalled how he met a lady and fixed a prosthetic arm and he saw her smiling and saying that now she can comb her hair. This incident touched him to the core, and he states that when we do something good for someone – it’s worth watching their face, he continues and says that the lady was looking at him as though he was God.

He narrates another experiences in his life wherein for the first time he met a 7 years old girl who are living without arms, he felt that he must do something for this child and decided to gift two prosthetic arms so he approached a company to purchase her two prosthetic arms and it shocked him to know the cost was 24 lakhs for two arms. He came to find out that there were nearly 40,000 people every year who lose their arms and currently there are 5 lakh people living without arms in India, which was an eye opener for him.

Hence Prashant decided to give up his studies and create an affordable electronic prosthetic arm. He researched and found solutions to reach out to those who need it and created an affordable arm which could be given free through support from NGO’s or well wishers. He realized that the poor cannot afford to buy and getting an arm could change their life and help them to get back to the society.
