Memories of my Mother :)

I am  re posting a post I did it earlier, updating it with what I am feeling right now about my mother.

COVID 19 has brought a sudden halt to our routines, and this gave me opportunity to do all those things that I always wanted to when I am free – which brought memories of my mother who had a great influence on my life. I watched her do all the chores at home, never ever getting tired to serve. There were always guests in our house and she was ready to cook and serve with a smile. Never saw her grumble and I used to get irritated sometimes as she was forever cooking and entertaining everyone who came home.  Now I understand that she was passionate about food and tried a variety of them.

Recently I recalled a few snacks like the banana Pie:

A Tamil recipe called Paniyaram, my mom used to do it with leftover bananas fully ripe. As children we never liked over riped bananas as it used to turn black and the look of it would turn me down. But not for my mom, she would mix maida powder, wheat powder, sugar with little water and a pinch of baking soda mix it to make paste and fry them in oil.. .the result is hot banana pie...memories are such no one can steal it❤😊

Paniyaram
I tried was Palak Bhajji which is Spinach a green leafy vegetable, mixed with Bengal gram powder with a pinch of haldi (saffron) mirchi (chilli powder) and salt, make a paste and fry it in oil. We can do this with onion, potatoes – very popular evening snacks.

I am happy that I tried and attempted some of the recipes; my mom was always on my mind. I was smiling away as I planned to experiment with cake, biryani, vegetable curries, soyapotato and some sweet dishes like vermicelli & double ka meetha and kaddhu ka kheer. Those whom we love, never really die, they continue to live in our hearts and they remain in our memories as we continue to imbibe their values and lovable qualities of cheerfulness and generosity😊🙏

As a mother it gives me so much happiness when I am experimenting and trying my best to give a good food for my family, my daughter is the best judge and keeps affirming me and sometimes also gives me constructive criticism so that I improve and do a better job another time.

Mother’s day has brought in so many memories – I wish all of my friends who are mothers because of child birth, and those who did not have the opportunity to become a mother  but have all the lovable motherly qualities and share themselves generously in service.

Be Blessed & Be Happy !

    1. Janet: You always make concerted effort and sensitize the occasions and wake us all from the slumber lest we forget that they are forgotten. RIP May her soul rest in peace.
