Last
December 2012, we as a family went for a holiday to this place. We were happy to be
together, and go around this place. The special
attraction of this place is the beautiful beach, where we spent time every
evening. Simple things in life brings so much joy ! some very special memories in my life.
Be Happy !
Beautiful pics of your family Genevive :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Diana ! its the first time we went out as family, living in a joint set up for a long time, its breath of fresh air !
DeleteYep it sure is a wonderful place. I was constantly poked by my better half and parents for hurrying along. I was lost taking the pictures you see :D
ReplyDeletePhenoMenon
Thanks for your comments, better luck next time, its nice to just be and do nothing, for me it was a luxury to be away from office, and household chores .. ..
DeleteI have been to velankini in my 4 th std
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful church and the memories are still fresh
I went to nagur too
Beaches heavenly and less crowded
Thanks for reviving my memories :)
how nice to hear that ! am happy to know that, we too stopped at nagur for a while. I recall my dad bringing me a small little brass pot from nagur on which my name was engraved in tamil as janet. I still have the pot and treasure it.
DeleteA nice place for a day out... having all the ingredients of faith, fun, food and of course family time!
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right, to be with the family and have fun, without having to bother to cook, no deadlines, no hurrying up! just being ourselves, it was a wonderful quiet Christmas, brought us closer to each other ..
DeleteI last time I went there was in my 9th from my hostel with friends. It was a memorable trip. Thanks for taking me down the memory lane. :)
ReplyDeleteThats really good to hear, must have been a very long time, now things have changed a lot, they have built a lot of quarters, and roads are nice, the autos can go upto the church. .. and ofcourse the beach its lovely to watch the waves... i can get easily lost in the waves..
DeleteThe church looks beautiful and looks like you had a lot of fun. So true that the simple things in life bring great joy. Thanks for sharing.

DeleteI have never been to Vailankanni. After reading your post, I think I must go.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear that ! its nice to go in December, the weather is good, the feast time is september, and the climate is very hot, and too much of crowd.
DeleteHi Janet,
ReplyDeleteVelankanni Church looks like a wonderful place to visit. I loved the photos you included in your post. It certainly does seem a like a fun place, especially as there is a beach there as well.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Jatin, I am glad you liked the place, I normally would prefer a quiet place to pray, this is a pilgrim centre and a lot of crowd comes in right through the year, but we can still go for fun and take break, for me the beach is the special attraction...
DeleteLovely, happy pictures, Janet.
ReplyDeleteThanks Corinne ! first time as family, even though Emanuel's is no more, some where deep down - I felt he was with us
DeleteLooks like a great place to visit! Lovely pictures.
ReplyDeleteAkhil Kalsh. http://www.1hw.in
Thanks ! you can visit for fun...
DeleteHave heard a lot about this place.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people go to this place, its a shrine, a devotees of mother Mary flock to this place. Its difficult to pray in a crowd, I always preferred a quiet place for prayer, but I respect those who can pray, and my husband is a devotee of mother mary, and he planned this outing for us after a very long time- we were happy to be together.
DeleteAlways wanted to go there. Will go soon, family thingie, not very religious!
ReplyDeleteAgree with you, me too, not very religious, glad to know you are going, you will enjoy being with the family..
DeleteLooks so nice! I remember the same fish being fried in front of us in Puri!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear, I visited Puri when I was working in my previous organisation, did not get to see the fish..
