Help Rehabilitate Kerala #BlogForKerala

We are reading, listening and getting messages on whatsapp with regard to the situation in Kerala wherein in very heavy rains have resulted in 10 out of 14 districts under water; roads, railways and bridges washed away, an people have been evacuated to camps and the challenge now is to enable these rescued people to survive wherein even basic needs are not available.

The state has been experiencing its worst rains since 1924 rendering more than 1.5 lakh people displaced and death tolls increasing. People have lost their homes and life time earnings in the flood with damage of life and property.

In Hyderabad there have been various groups collecting funds and the other required materials to reach to Kerala.  St Francis Degree College, Begumpet Aluminae Association has initiated a drive towards relief for Kerala flood victims. They have identified Waynad which requires urgent help. The students are contributing generously and one staff and the NSS students are accompanying the truck carrying relief materials. Young Women Christian Associations from the South West Region are extending their support in providing people with basic amenities for which we would like to give them our support. The roads have suffered the worst damage, with 10,000kms of road including National and State Highways, left completely destroyed. The railways and airlines have suspended their services too.
