“Reflect
upon your present blessings- of which every man has many- not on your past
misfortunes, which all men have some” Charles Dickens
Its
time to count my blessings for the month that has gone by; this is one of the
most pleasurable activities of my life is - review the whole month and recall
everything and offer thanks to God for sustaining me for another month. So here
goes my gratitude list for the month of May 2023:
This
month began with a birthday party of one of our friends in the professional
circle; it’s always great to be connected especially when we are working in the
same field and collaborate and work together in the area of mental health. I am grateful for these relationships as it
helps me relevant and keeps me updated.
I
am grateful for the work that kept me busy – students coming in and the centre
was busy with a lot of other activities with signing a memorandum of
understanding extending our work with women in distress mentoring and preparing
them for skill based work.
I
am happy that we are able to reach out to more number of people and it’s a new
initiative. I am looking forward to a lot of learning and growing working with
another group of youngsters who are passionate about making a difference in
people’s lives.
This
month on the occasion of mother’s day in our parish, we had the youth organize the
prayer and blessings exclusively for all the mothers. As a token of love and appreciation,
they handed over a beautiful flower with simple card that s wishing us “Happy
Mother’s Day”. I am grateful for the initiatives of our youth and their thoughtfulness
to acknowledge and appreciate mothers.
This
month I was also very excited as one of my old dreams of visiting Israel came true; I have been waiting for years now – and always
there was something or the other that was stopping us. It was my dream that we
visit as a family.
But
the Lord has other plans- so finally I decided to make up my mind to go along
with my daughter, as David was having problem with his leg, lot of walking is
required, David made it clear that it would be difficult for him to join us. So
I booked the seats for me and daughter
in one of the tours and travels that
takes us to Egypt, Israel, Palestine and Jordan.
Once
I made up my mind, everything fell in place – I got the right connect, my
leaves were sanction, our tickets booked and I had my loving friends to guide
me; in fact I am grateful to Genny who constantly motivated me to believe in
God and in myself; and Noemi who took time out and helped me to plan and gave
me full orientation and prepared me and Dorothy well to be able to have our
trip not just enjoyable but a meaningful experience.
Hence
from the 17th of this month
to the 28th of May I was out touring all these places. I loved every
moment of my stay in all these places, enjoyed the food, walked without getting
tired – had fun posing near the pyramid,
playing in the Red Sea, had lunch in the cruise at River Nile, sang and danced in
the boat at the Sea of Galilee and tried floating on the Dead Sea.
I
am grateful to David for being not just kind but supportive and even helped us
with finances; managed the house and routine with helpers, friends, well
wishers, classmates who prayed and encouraged us and I believe that for
everything there is a time in our lives. I think the timing was perfect for us
to create wonderful memories for life time.
I
and my daughter have clicked photographs everywhere we went; and I will make a
separate post for every country I visited. For know I wanted to continue with
my monthly gratitude post; so I end my post here with love; but my journey
continues with gratitude.
I
will continue to write in detail my experiences of the Holy Land Tour visit -which
may help someone who interested in visiting these places.
Thank you for reading my post; appreciate
your time and your thoughts – hope you had a great month
May you be blessed!
