V –Value of Togetherness

 April  A-Z 2020 challenge
I have taken this inspiration from one of the forwards I have received.

This is a short story from Africa called the Ubuntu. An Anthropologist proposed a game to the African tribal children.

He placed a basket of sweets near a tree. And made the children stand 100 meters away. Then announced that whoever reaches first would get all the sweets in the basket. When he said ‘ready start go’…

Do you know what these children did? They all held each others’ hands, ran together towards the tree, divided the sweets equally among themselves, ate the sweets and enjoyed it.

When the Anthropologist asked them why they did so, they answered… “Ubuntu” which meant.

Humanity to others in South African Term

This term originated around mid-19th century, used by Zulu community,  Ubuntu in their language means “I am what I am because of who we all are.”

How can one be happy when the others are sad?” is what the children displayed by their behavior.

Let all of us always have this attitude and spread happiness wherever we go.

Let’s have a “Ubuntu Life”.

In this lock down period let us continue to exercise regularly, maintain social distance, avoid travels and wear masks and stay safe and stay home. So that like these children we too can together help fight the COVID 19 virus.  May we not forget "I am what I am because of who we all are."

Thank you for reading this post. I appreciate your time and would love to hear your thoughts.

Have a great quarantine weekend

Be Blessed & Be Happy!

    1. You must have heard this shilpa - I read it for the second time and felt that it was a sweet story to share. There's also a story of gifted children who were made to run a race and one child falls, and all the other children turn back to help the child and run together.. . towards the finishing line.. Thanks for your presence here shilpa, hope you are home and safe:)
