J – Just Do One Tick At A Time

This April for the #A-Z 2020 I have taken short stories from books of Fr Anthony De Mello – “the song of the bird” and the “prayer of the frog” .  I would like to share these stories and hopefully believe that these stories will inspire you too.

The clock master was about to fix the pendulum of a clock when, to his surprise, he heard the pendulum speak.

“Please sir, leave me alone”, the pendulum pleaded. “It will be an act of kindness on your part. Think of the number of times I have to tick day and night. So many times each minute, sixty minutes an hour, twenty-four hours a day, three hundred and sixty five days of a year. For year upon year… millions of ticks. I could never do it.”

But the clock master answered wisely, “Don’t think of the future. Just Do One Tick A Time and you will enjoy every tick for the rest of your life.”

And that is exactly what the pendulum decided to do. It is still ticking merrily away.

With COVID 19 crisis – more than 20 days have gone; I and my family are at home. We have managed quite well so far everything is going fine – we have provisions and all the basic necessities are met.

We don’t know how long this lock down will continue and when will I get back to work., and when will the colleges reopen for my daughter and when will David get back to work, this month David got his salary and I am yet to get, we don’t know whether David will get his salary this month…. How are we going to manage… but I am comforted that we don’t have to pay the rent as we own the house.

The banks have made provision so also other bills. I am wondering how this year is going to be. I feel like this clock sometimes… I hear the clock master speaking to me…The Present moment is here, Live it fully…

One day left for Easter; as we celebrate Jesus’s Resurrection tomorrow there’s a small voice from within and I too will rise once again, humbled, purified, cleansed and little wiser.

Thanks for reading my post; appreciate your time; would love to hear your thoughts..

May the Risen Lord Bless You and Your family!

Happy Easter Friends J

  1. Lovely Genevive thank you ... one tick at a time is how we're also doing it here in SA. Grateful that our basic needs are met. No going out, though one could go to the shops for essentials like food. We haven't yet left our property in over 2 weeks ..

A Blessed Easter to you and your family xx
