April blogging #A-Z 2018- L

This post is written for the April blogging #A-Z 2018.
I have chosen the theme Books and Authors for this year.

Legend of Lakshmi Prasad

This year I made a decision to read at least 12 – 15 books and I chose to take small steps in picking up books that I am able to complete within a month, so that I stay motivated too. This book was recommended by one of the student in the campus who came to me for counseling, and she spoke so positively about this book that I was tempted to buy, and so with my daughter’s help I purchased this online.

I was happy to read this book and have no regrets for buying a copy.  I completed this book within few days. The book is easy and simple to read and has 5 different stories and each one of the story is written in a humorous way and women play an important role in all the stories. The book has four separate stories:

  The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad
 Salaam Noni Appa
 If the Weather Permit
The Sanitary Man From A Sacred Land”

The first story is about the teenager named Lakshmi who experiences her elder sister being beaten for dowry; and hence changes the way women are treated in her village. I loved this story of how Lakshmi changes the fate of the daughter’s born in the village by empowering the women and changing their destinies.

Salaam Noni Appa is another story of a elderly lady falling in love with a yoga teacher…. and how they find love. If the weather permits is about a young girl who gets out of marriage and meets prospective grooms of her parent’s choice.

Then there is a story of man who makes low cost sanitary pads affordable and wants to improve the lives of women in both family and society. This story is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham a social entrepreneur who made the world’s first low-cost sanitary pad making machine.

On the whole the book is good for light reading and has some meaningful lessons and strong messages. They are also humorous, sensitive and witty; the stories are beautifully and brilliantly told to sustain the reader’s interest. I Like this book and would recommend this to all my friends who are looking for something new, different and funny to read.

Thank you for reading my post; I would be happy to know your thoughts..

Be Happy & Be Blessed!

  1. I have read this book, though I loved Twinkle's first book Mrs Funnybones more than this one. This one a bit dull in comparison, though has some meaningful stories which are well written.
