Never Speak Without Listening!

To listen is to love, to love is to understand.  We find all around everybody wants to speak and there are very few who are ready to listen.  No wonder today we have dearth of counselors. Institutions are looking for people who can listen non judgmentally with unconditional love.

They are willing to hire people for listening, because listening does a lot of wonders – when we listen with love, a lot of issues get resolved.  I am happy to work as a counselor and I have trained myself to listen with love – and I have grown so much because of listening.  I love what Carl Rogers, a psychologist who focused on person centered counseling, and client centred therapy says about listening as follows:

“When a person realizes he has been deeply heard, his eyes moisten. I think in some real sense he is weeping for joy. It is as though he were saying, "Thank God, somebody heard me. Someone knows what it's like to be me." Carl Rogers

"Man's inability to communicate is a result of his failure to listen effectively."  Carl Rogers

Thank you for listening !

    1. True ! I remember the days when I used to prepare my mind to answer, even before the person completes the sentence, we are so much conditioned by our own experiences, we end up listening to what we want to listen and not what the other is saying..

  5. Very true... Listening with attention is also a trait to be inculcated...Reactions before listening might result into something that one would repent...

    1. Thanks for your comments... attentive listening is very much part of communication, our relationships improve, when we truly listen to understand, rather than to react..

    1. Thanks sunila, nice to hear from you... listening is quite demanding and its quite challenging to listen with love and open mind, without any prejudice or any beliefs that can come in our way in listening.

  8. Listening helps a lot of them. There is a light feeling when we know we are being heard and someone understands us. My friends always used to say talking to me helps, even if I don't know the solutions, I do listen to them and its a big thing! I in later years got to know what it is like being heard when you go through something disturbing! I am glad they heard me back when I needed to be heard! :)
