O for Old age

Old age? for some of us, it could be retirement, for some, a time to spend with the family, for others could be to pursue something that they have always loved to, may be education, a hobby, or some activity to bring meaning to their lives.

Many fear old age, how many of us actually attain said a great author.  So true, none of us can give a guarantee, as to how long we will live, but definitely we can make choices to grow old gracefully.

As we grow older, it is easier for us to be positive, to care less about what others think, it does not matter whether we are accepted, for we know in our hearts that we are not born to entertain others.

Problem solving gets easier with age and experience; we become more generous and forgiving towards self and others. We relive beautiful moments, and we also recreate by visiting our favourite places, we renew our lost forgotten friendships, and we dare to try new recipes, as we have rich experiences cooking, and feeding our loved ones.

We have learnt so many lessons, that life has offered to teach us in different ways leaving us wounded, broken, shattering our hopes and dreams; for it is these hurtful experiences in life that give us strength, understanding and compassion.

Today I know my parents are not alive; my elder sister is also not alive, my only son whom I loved so much is no more, but  I am lucky to be alive, to be alive enough to keep learning, to be alive enough to smile and laugh, to be alive enough to see my daughter grow; to be alive enough to see my hair turning grey.

I am enjoying the company of myself, knowing that I am getting older, wiser, exploring my full potential,  bringing meaning & fulfillment to my life.“The best thing to save for your old age is yourself”. I like this quote below:

Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter. ~ Mark Twain

  5. Yes, every passing of a loved one is a reminder of our own mortality. We can only learn to the years we are given to the fullest!
