January Gratitude - 2025

I am glad to write this post for the first month of 2025. I am blessed to enter into this year with joy, and it’s always a pleasure to recall, relive and keep counting my blessings as I journey through my life. This month was a busy month both professionally and personally too.

I was busy at my work place and this month most of the sessions focused on anxiety, low self-concept and relationship issues. I am grateful for the trust that my students have in me that they keep coming to me to be able to deal with their issues.

This month – some friends of mine who could not meet me last month, celebrated my birthday. I felt happy to be loved, acknowledged and we had joined for breakfast together; as we need to get back to our workplaces, the timing was perfect; these are small joys and I am grateful to God and my friends.

I watched a Malayalam movie with sub titles along with Maria Dorothy my daughter; it was a simple cute love story, different from the usual ones. I am grateful for my daughter’s company and she gives me a lens to look at young people in a new way, that helps me broaden my thought process and makes a me better helper in my profession.

I had a great time this month meeting my school girls who are enjoying their retired life -it was fun meeting all of them and catch up with them, there was one classmate who wanted to meet everyone else and she chose a vegetarian restaurant which was a buffet lunch – there was so many varieties and I got to taste some new types of food items, grilled, boiled, cooked and served with various combinations such as corn, pineapple and mushroom… it was an experiment for me to eat in these combinations. I am grateful to God for this time of togetherness forgetting everything spending time with them.

I am glad to attend a wedding of my God son’s daughter Cynthia this month – this family have been friends for years and we also worked in the previous organization. His wife being a special educator used to come home to teach my son Emmanuel. I was glad to attend the pre wedding ceremony as well as the wedding of his daughter. This was a time for me to meet all my colleagues of the previous organization, and also my old parish, wherein I got to meet a lot more people from the parish.  After my marriage I have become so busy with my life that I do not get a chance to see them and it was a great experience to meet so many of my friends and they were happy too.

I am happy to see Dorothy busy for the whole month, she was active doing everything on  her own, helping in data entry, taking part in the YWCA programmes, and also trying out some sweet – which I loved it and glad that she is making attempts to learn; she is also helpful to me and I get to learn so much from her as she is updates me with all the current  movies that needs to be watched and helps me at home. David keeps himself busy with his own work, eating healthy, exercising and also travels for his own meetings.

The end of the month was a travel time and I am immensely grateful to the opportunity provided by the YWCA (Young Women Christian Association) of Secunderabad that I could go as a Delegate to attend the South East Region Conference of the YWCA, which was scheduled for 25 & 26 January, 2025 and we left one day early and returned after 3 days. There were Delegates from almost 14 YWCA's from this region. I was happy to travel with a team of 3 youngsters and another person from the YWCA. This was a good break for me as I have been very busy in 2024 and I feel so lucky for the perfect timing of my life. I completed my Master’s in Philosophy (the results had come in and I scored well).

I am also glad that I completed my Diploma Course in Yoga – with distinction marks😊 and the third one-year course in Diploma in Nutrition and Health. All the results had come in this month and I was in a great mood and this break gave me some time to process all that I have done so far.

I thank God for Dorothy also attended this conference and left one day earlier than me; she represented the National YWCA and she is on the National Board. It brought so much happiness to see her active on the board and she was the MC for all the three days, day one was for the youth and two days was open for all.

I Loved traveling to Ooty in South India – clicked a lot of pictures from the car and captured the nature’s beauty in my eyes. Even now when I close my eyes and think of the journey – I can see the beautiful hills, lush green trees.  I enjoyed my stay there attending the conference, interacted with other participants, in the evening went around sight seeing as the botanical garden was just 2kms from my stay and there’s a Tibetan market too.

For all the three days I went out with my room mates in the evenings, enjoyed some hot momos, filter coffee, and one day had a dinner in the Chinese restaurant. I visited the tea factory for the second tine (I had gone earlier there) Picked up some tea and visited the chocolate factory at the venue, which was also good. I picked up very little homemade chocolates as I was afraid that it may melt.

The workshop had a tribal people displaying articraft, shawls, mufflers, pots and some eatery made by the women in the rehabilitation home.  I picked up prawn and ginger pickles just to encourage the women who were marketing.

I won a bottle of Grape juice along with a team, as we answered some quiz related to the YWCA – this was fun and I enjoyed working in the group of 6 people and we were alert and competitive.  The conference was good, I felt refreshed surrounded by the beauty of the hills and the greenery. Only the weather was a bit tough to handle, the place was extremely cold and we shivered in the night and early hours😊the day time was fine as the sun was up by 9a.m and by then we are ready for the session.

I am grateful that the month ended with this travel, refreshed me and I felt a lot lighter as I continue to carry the images in my memory to keep living one more time. Ooty is the Queen of Hills and its worth the visit and even though I had been here for a holiday with my friend Aparna. I still loved the place and the ambience. I am thankful, grateful and blessed as I enter into another month of the year…

Thanks for reading my post !

Be Blessed & Be Happy !
