Learning to be Thankful !

For the last 15 days, I have been struggling with severe cold and cough, I tried to help myself, by taking some home remedies for a week, and when I found that I still had the cough.

I felt it s important to see a doctor, so I met the doctor and prescribed me with  antibiotics for another week, there was a temporary relief, but again my cough was troubling me, it was so bad that I could hear my voice echo in my own ears. I felt my ear was also troubling now, so I decided to visit the ENT specialist.

I met the ENT doctor who tells me that I need to take a 5 day course of antibiotics; along with he asked to take some tests related to thyroid and the blood. Suddenly there is a death in the family, my father in law passed away, he was living on his own, all the members of the family had to go.

Looking at all this, I was wondering whether I should thank God for all that is happening in my life, as for most of us we show gratitude only when everything is fine in life, But what happens during the rest of the year? Are we not grateful on a daily basis?

When we have gratitude for everything in our lives on a daily basis, our mindset changes, our attitude changes, we become focused on the things that matter most but most of all, we open ourselves up for better things.

I am learning the  art of being thankful at all times. Thankfulness will enrich our lives, I am inspired by the following quotes:

If the only prayer you ever say in your life is thank you, it will be enough." - Meister Eckhart

"To receive more you must first be thankful for what you already have. Thanksgiving opens the doors for good ideas to flow, while cynicism blocks the door of good ideas." - Jim Rohn

Count Your Blessings !

Whatever I am today in my life, I owe a lot to my mother. I to remember my mom who was very special person to me. She was a woman with a generous heart, and gratitude was a way of life for her.

I always remember how she would be thankful for little things, and her actions would overwhelm me. I could never understand how she sustained that energy to remain thankful at all times.

She not only taught me to be thankful for small little things of every day life like daily food, clothing and shelter, but even in tough times and difficult situations in life.

Managing a large family of nine children was a tough task for her. Whenever I struggle with my two little children, I wonder at her capacity to not only manage our family, but also the generosity to accommodate my uncle's family too.

She ensured that all of us went to school and our basic necessities were provided.  She was for every child in times of pains, illness, and confusion. Despite all hardships, she was woman who had deep faith in God, believed in the providence, and was always a happy woman.

I learnt it from her, to be happy all the times, and to always be grateful for what has been, the past, what is the present and what is to come the future.
