Happy Father's Day !!

A thank you note to my dad who has been a great father, simple, humble, genuine, hard working and above all full of faith and trust in God.

I am grateful for he taught me to pray every day;  encouraged me to trust in God. It is by his example that I learnt never to be afraid of the future but only to believe, that everything is working for the greater good.  He worked hard day and night to ensure that the basic needs of the family were met.

He was  generous with whatever you had, never hid or kept anything for himself, even in till he retired, earned and supported the family even after retirement.  He had special love for the girls, and I remember a few times when mummy lost her temper, she would want to correct us by scolding and giving one wrap, and he would be  ready to protect and shield us with a smile.  There have been times when we  complained about our brothers, only to hear him  shout at them and warn them not to lay their hands on girls.

His  commitment to  work was great, I remember him cycling for almost 5 – 10 kms to work every day and despite your ill health, you still continued to work.  I Love that brass pot, which he  brought for me from velankanni church, it is still safe in my house, whenever I look at it, I remember him with love and gratitude.

He spent all his life for the family, sacrificing his own needs to ensure that children's needs were met. single handed supported every child without showing any signs of stress; but only with faith in the Lord and cheerful smile, trusting in providence.

when the time came for us to live for you, I feel sad I couldn't do much, and now you are no more.  You gave us so much without expecting anything in return. No amount of “THANK YOU” can express the love and gratitude in the heart. wherever you are, I want you to know that you are alive in my life by the faith you have instilled in me; and I continue this journey trusting in Gods providence as taught by you !!

May your soul rest in peace!

Visiting the Bangladesh Border

One important place that I visited during this trip to the North East was the Bangladesh border. I could not believe my eyes that we were so close. I just needed to walk across one line of control and I will be in another country J

I could see tourist of Bangladesh standing opposite to us and watching our country’s border and here I am standing and looking at them, smiling away, hardly any difference between us and them. I salute our soldiers who are at the border security force (BSF) 24 /7 guarding our country. I was filled with awe, wonder and amazement when I saw them in the army dress alert and ready standing at the border.

This filled me with gratitude for our soldiers, who guard the country, because of whom we are able to sleep in peace. They are away from their homes, their loved ones and families only to ensure that we and our families are together safe and secure.

A lot of other tourists who also came to the border took photographs with the security; and I was also enthusiastic in taking some pictures to create a memory for myself and my daughter.  We were there for little while watching the other side; and also came to know from the driver that some of the time their cattle’s comes grazing crossing the border and people come in search this side.  Also found this place green and interesting to find that the waterfalls from this side was  flowing into the Bangladesh, making the place look fertile and green.

In my younger days I also visited Jalandhar and it was the Pakistan border; but the distant was too much and there barbed wires and we had to maintain a lot of distance to see the soldiers patrolling at LOC. (Line of control). In comparison I was quite happy to see this border from close quarters and I felt I was so much close to visit another neighbouring country.

Later on my friend suggested that I come again and it’s not very difficult to get the entry by road…. Wherein one can submit Indian passport and they issue an Indo Bangla passport and go for a tour in Bangladesh.

Happy to have visited this place; and feeling grateful J

Shillong - Bop Hill

One of the most fascinating experiences is this place, which is situated between Mawlynnong to Dawki. I was in awe watching this beautiful, serene, quiet, greenery, only with the sound of waterfalls which was loud and clear.

I have no words to describe this experience; I let the pictures speak, took some pictures and spent a little time. The waterfalls look awesome amidst black huge rocks, with surrounding dark green trees all over. There is the bridge by which you can stand and watch this waterfall.

We were advised not to stand long as the water with its force has a pull and few persons have accidently fallen, such is powerful force of this waterfall gushing endlessly.

All I can say reliving this again and again is “Thank You Lord for this Wonderful Experience”
